Please be advised that The Michigan Supreme Court entered an Administrative Order on March 26, 2020, (attached) stating that:

"The deadlines for all filings, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional, in the Michigan Supreme Court and Court of Appeals are suspended as of March 24, 2020, the effective date of Michigan Governor Executive Order 2020-21 and will be tolled until the expiration of EO 2020-21 or a subsequent EO that extends the period in which citizens are required to suspend activities that are not necessary to sustain or protect life."

Executive Order 2020-21 established an effective date through April 13 at 11:59pm. On May 5, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order No. 2020-77, which extended this date until May 28 at 11:59pm.

The result of this Administrative Order is that the appeal period for any Court Order issued from a Michigan Court that would have expired on, or after, March 24 is suspended until May 28 and any remaining days on the appeal period would then start running from May 29 until the appropriate appeal period has expired. If the Court Order was entered after March 24 then the entire appeal period would be tolled with the first day of the appeal period beginning to run on May 29. Please note that the May 28 date can be extended by additional Michigan Governor Executive Orders. If the date is extended, Stewart Title will advise accordingly.
